Culture and History
Montaud’s church dates from the 13th century. The Château de Montlaur is listed in the register of Monuments historiques. It developed from a military fortress built in the 11th century into a residential château from the early 16th century. Access to the Château de Montlaur is prohibited because it is privately owned and the surrounding area is dangerous.
Wine and Local Produce
The cooperative winery in Montaud has existed since 1938 and serves to promote local produce. Les Celliers du Val des Pins, based in Montaud, brings together a winegrowing area of around 600 hectares encompassing the municipalities of Montaud, Saint-Bauzille de Montmel, Sussargues, Saint-Drézéry and Castries.
