Montarnaud preserves notable evidence of its history. By decree of 9 December 2015, the Château de Montarnaud was listed in its entirety as a historic monument.
The Ancienne église Notre-Dame du Fort in Montarnaud was also listed as a historic monument by decree of 15 December 1992. It is a former castle chapel.
Despite alterations made in the 19th century, the Château de Montarnaud preserves the appearance and features of a medieval castle: a rectangular main building with four round corner towers and a square inner courtyard.
Perched on a rocky hill, the Château de Montarnaud overlooks the plain of the Mosson's headwaters.

Le Mas Dieu is a 540-hectare garrigue area south of Montarnaud.
Le Mas Dieu is home to a remarkable diversity of garrigue fauna and flora and is open for grazing.

Mas Dieu Village offers wine tastings every Thursday evening, accompanied by cured meats, cheese or other local products.
Regional specialities made by local producers are also offered there; the wines of Mas Dieu Village can likewise be enjoyed there with cured meats, cheese or other local products.
Montarnaud's traditional market takes place every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Place de l’Esplanade. The market includes the organic producer Le Potager de Laurence, offering vegetables, fruit, aromatic plants, vegetable seedlings, flowers and honey.
Townscape
The Tour de l’Horloge has a clock mechanism that is still functioning; its two weights are manually wound with a crank every ten days.
On Montarnaud's village square stands a fountain built in 1860, characterised by its narrow triangular pyramid shape.

Montarnaud can be reached via the A750 motorway on the Montpellier–Millau route, exit 61.
The Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle pilgrimage route, the GR 653, passes through Montarnaud.
