Nature and Trails

The Parc et forêt de l’Usclade includes hundred-year-old cedars and a Belle Époque bandstand. The Forêt de l’Usclade offers shady walks and longer hikes along forest paths. The GR7 “Traversée du Massif Central par les Parcs” runs through this forest area to the village of Croix des Baussels.

The Espace Trail Montagnes du Caroux – Parcours 7 – La Croix des Baussels is an easy 9.5-kilometre circular route starting and ending in Lamalou-les-Bains. Another hike leads to Notre-Dame-de-Capimont and the access path to the Notre-Dame-de-Capimont sanctuary.

The Voie Verte Passa Païs also runs through Lamalou-les-Bains; it is a former railway line converted for cycling. The Lamalou-les-Bains–Le Poujol-sur-Orb section is 1.5 kilometres long, has a gentle gradient of less than 2 per cent, and can be walked as a 3-kilometre round trip.

Culture and Local History

Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Villecelle was rebuilt in the 17th century on Romanesque remains and restored after extensive work. Free guided tours take place once or twice a month at the Prieuré Saint-Pierre de Rhèdes.

The Théâtre de Lamalou is a 600-seat theatre in the Italianate style and has retained its 1900 appearance. Every summer, the Festival lyrique de Lamalou-Les-Bains presents operetta performances, continuing a long-standing local operetta tradition. Belle Époque villas also form part of the townscape.

The Parc de l’Usclade contains the remains of the former Vaporarium.
