The Agout flows through Fraïsse-sur-Agout. Lac de Vésoles is the highest-altitude lake in the Hérault département. The protected wetland area at Lac de Vésoles is home to remarkable flora.
Nature
A 6.5-kilometre forest trail circles Lac de Vésoles on foot or by mountain bike. A path leads from Lac de Vésoles to the Saut de Vésoles waterfall; the Sentier des 1000 marches climbs up to this waterfall.
Trails
The Sentier Prévert begins in the centre of Fraïsse-sur-Agout, opposite the Tourist Information Office. The interpretation trail focuses on trees and the natural environment and is equipped with information panels. It also provides an opportunity to discover the Picarel menhir statue. The Circuit fleuri is a visitor attraction in Fraïsse-sur-Agout.
Culture
The Croix Saint-Jean is considered the birthplace of Fraïsse-sur-Agout and is located on the site of the village’s first church. Fraïsse-sur-Agout is the only village in the Hérault département to hold the “4 fleurs” distinction as part of the French Villages Fleuris initiative. The paillé de Prat Alaric is one of the noteworthy destinations in Fraïsse-sur-Agout.
By the water
The Les berges fleuries fishing area stretches for 600 metres through the village of Fraïsse-sur-Agout. Rainbow trout can be caught there; equipment and bait are provided. Les berges sauvages is a one-kilometre-long fly-fishing area upstream from the traditional fishing area, in an intentionally natural setting.
From June to October, the Île sur l’Agout and its water-powered machinery are accessible to visitors or can be experienced as visitor attractions in Fraïsse-sur-Agout. The Île sur l’Agout picnic area is a shady spot by the river, suitable for fishing and equipped with a barbecue.
