Culture and History
The Église Sainte-Eulalie de Mérida in Cruzy is a Gothic building, characteristic of southern French Gothic, and has preserved some remains of the Romanesque church. It was built between the 12th and 14th centuries. Inside, there is also a polychrome stone Madonna and Child from the 14th century.
The Chapelle Sainte-Foy is probably the remains of an older Visigothic building. It is located in a geological basin behind the Source de Cruzy and the Marie-Coquette rocks, directly next to a Gallo-Roman settlement.
The Musée de Cruzy displays dinosaur eggs and the thigh bone of a titanosaur. It also presents archaeological material from archaeological field surveys. An individual visit to the museum takes an average of 60 minutes.
Landscape and Trails
The 11 km-long Voie Verte Camin'Arts was created along the route of a former railway line and connects Capestang with the former railway station of Cruzy. It brings the railway heritage of the early 20th century to life. There are art installations along the route; it passes through vineyards, garrigue, pine forests and olive groves, and along streams.
The Défilé de Marie-Coquette hiking trail runs along an ancient Roman road through the Marie-Coquette rocks and the Marie-Close gorge. The trail passes near the ruins of the Moulin Saint-Eulalie, hidden by vegetation.
Historic Routes and Wine
The Route médiévale à travers le vignoble du Minervois takes visitors through Cruzy's old town to the old feudal castle. This old feudal castle was formerly owned by the Viscounts of Narbonne.
Château de Sériège is considered an example of Languedoc's architectural heritage within the municipality of Cruzy. During a stop at Château de Sériège, visitors can discover the estate's wines at the crossroads of the Saint-Chinian and Minervois appellations.
