Culture and History

The Canal du Midi was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996. The ancient Via Domitia crosses Colombiers from one end to the other, descending from Malpas and continuing as far as the port.

The former wine cellar of the Château de Colombiers was built at the end of the 19th century. The Church of Saint-Sylvestre – Sainte-Colombe contains a Visigothic altar classified as a historic monument. The earliest documented place of worship at the Church of Saint-Sylvestre – Sainte-Colombe dates from the early Christian period.

The Cave du Château can be visited during the Maison du Tourisme’s opening hours.

Water

Boats can be rented at the Port de Colombiers without requiring a licence to operate them.

From the Port de Colombiers, visitors can take sightseeing boats along the Canal du Midi that have been awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label.

Cycling

The Voie Verte Saint-Chinian–Colombiers Canal du Midi comprises almost 33 kilometres of developed paths from Saint-Chinian to the Canal du Midi and passes through Colombiers.
