The natural pools of the Gorges de Colombières can be reached from the signposted car park on the RD908 in the centre of Colombières with just a few metres of walking there and back.

The “Randonnée des Gorges de Colombières” is a difficult 13-kilometre circular hike with a stated walking time of 5 hours and 30 minutes. It leads through heathland with broom and heather before descending along a former Roman road through stands of old oak and chestnut trees.

After the ruins of an old chestnut-drying shed, the “PR des Gorges de Colombières” hiking trail leads to the cave dwellings. The “Randonnée Jean-Claude Carrière” trail runs through terraces characterised by oak and chestnut trees and is lined with dry-stone walls. At four thematic stations, it provides information about the man, his life and work, the history of the place, the here and elsewhere, and cinema.

Culture

The Tour carrée de Colombières-sur-Orb at the lieu-dit Le Battut is fully registered as a historic monument; the registration dates from 28 June 1939. The “Les Balcons d’Arles” hike offers views of the Caroux and the Tour carrée, which overlooks the Ruisseau d’Albine.

L’Arbre à Palabres is a café-bookshop in the Gorges de Colombières at the foot of the Caroux. There, the bookshop hosts author events, creative workshops, readings, intimate concerts and Jaja Clubs, during which it becomes a convivial cave à manger for an evening.
