Several signposted trails in Cébazan, including the easy 7.7 km circular trail “Le Dolmen” with a stated duration of 2 hours 30 minutes and the “Saint-Bauléry” circular trail, make it possible to discover the area’s cultural heritage and landscape. The “Le Dolmen” trail crosses the Lirou at a ford and passes by the Dolmen de Montmajou.

The Dolmen de Montmajou is located at a viewpoint overlooking the Cébazan plain. The starting point of the “Le Dolmen” hike is less than a 10-minute walk from the “CEBAZAN – COOPERATIVE” bus stop.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Martin preserves several stone elements from the Middle Ages. Its sacristy contains a small carved wooden cabinet for storing liturgical vessels, with a sculpted back panel in the Art Deco style.

The Château de Saint-Bauléry lies in ruins on a hill overlooking the landscape. The former chapel of the Château de Saint-Bauléry, dedicated to Saint Baudille, is mentioned as early as 1102. The ruins of the Château de Saint-Bauléry can be reached on a hike.

Cébazan is home to megalithic remains and Neolithic dolmens.

The ZNIEFF “Plaine de Cazedarnes” extends across Cébazan and encompasses a mixed landscape of garrigue and predominantly vineyards.

The Col de Fontjun is situated at an altitude of 260 m and offers views of vineyards, surrounding villages and the Caroux reliefs. At the Col de Fontjun, a memorial and an annual commemorative event commemorate an ambush against the Maquisards during the Second World War.

The Route des Vins du Canal du Midi à Saint-Chinian leads to Cébazan, a red-stone wine-growing village. Cébazan is a wine-growing village in the Saint-Chinian appellation, with a cooperative winery and wine producers.
