The Templar commandery of Cazouls-d’Hérault was founded around 1150. The former Templar commandery complex comprises a square keep, an old chapel, and former agricultural buildings.
Culture and history
The château, the former home of the Templars, including its park and enclosure, has been fully protected by a decree dated 27 June 2011. From the courtyard, accessible via Rue des Templiers, medieval features such as pointed-arch springings and two medieval staircases are visible. The former Templar commandery complex is currently a privately run guesthouse in private ownership.

Church and traditions
The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul was built in 1849 based on a design commissioned from the architect Louis-Alphonse Corvetto. The church’s “annada 2004” sundial was created during the restoration of the building and the renewal of its exterior rendering.
Every year around 20 January, the municipality celebrates Saint Sebastian and venerates his relic. Guided tours on the history of Cazouls-d’Hérault are offered year-round.
The house at no. 3 Plan Neuf belonged to the family of Louis Paulhan (1883–1963), a pioneer of aviation.
Landscape and paths
Cazouls-d’Hérault lies at the confluence of the Boyne and Hérault rivers and preserves its Occitan traditions. The dikes built from 1852 onwards to protect against flooding from the Hérault have become a promenade through the plain’s natural landscape.
The “Ceinture verte” runs between the village and the waterways and offers the opportunity to experience the area’s natural heritage. Mountain bike circuit no. 10, “Entre vignes et fleuve”, passes through Cazouls-d’Hérault.
Village life
Cazouls-d’Hérault has a regional tambourine ball tradition in which two teams of five players each compete against one another. The Cazouls tambourine ball club has existed for more than a hundred years and hosts European Championships.

The “Cazouls-d’Hérault – Emb.RD609” bus stop is served by the Lodève–Clermont L’Hérault–Pézenas and Clermont L’Hérault–Pézenas routes.
