Canet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Hérault River borders Canet to the east. The two-day cycling tour “Escapade à vélo N°4” covers 95 kilometres and crosses the Pont de Canet. The bridge has existed in its current form since 1935 and was restored in 2012 and 2017.

The traditional market in Canet takes place on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and features four to five stalls run by local producers.

Culture

Notre-Dame de Bethléem Church originated as a chapel built by the Dominicans. Its construction took six years, from 1630 to 1636.

The Barry district is the oldest part of Canet and is situated around the remains of Saint-Martin Church. The part of Canet within the castle fortifications still features traces of towers and the castle’s main building.

Walks

The walking tour through Canet is easy, takes one hour and is two kilometres long. It follows a small yellow-marked path along the river.

The “Au bord de l’Hérault” walk includes looking for traces of otters and beavers. It also includes a picnic on a river beach and activities involving pebbles.
