Balaruc-Les-Bains: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Les Thermes de Balaruc-les-Bains is a 16,000 m² thermal facility entirely dedicated to well-being and relaxation. Landscape and trails
The Gouffre de la Vise is a funnel-shaped feature with a diameter of 100 m and a depth of 30 m, visible to walkers at the end of the promenade near l’Angle Bay. It is also a nearly freshwater spring with a constant temperature of 21°C, fed by part of the underground water from the limestone hills of Montagne de la Moure and Causse d’Aumelas.
The Georges Brassens–Laurent Spinosi promenade is almost 2 km long, runs along the shore of the Thau lagoon and is fully accessible. The accessible Brassens-Spinozi promenade offers views of Mont Saint-Clair and the oyster farms.
Culture and history
A stone bust of Neptune discovered at the Gallo-Roman basilica in 1981 led to the hypothesis that the basilica was dedicated to him as the city’s protector. The visible archaeological remains of the Gallo-Roman basilica date from the 3rd century AD. The Notre-Dame des Eaux chapel, also known as Notre-Dame d’Aix, is a 12th-century Romanesque chapel built from shell-limestone blocks. In October 1989, it was added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The Pavillon Sévigné was built in 1753 and was the first thermal facility in Balaruc-les-Bains.
Océanorue is a public art-and-science project in Balaruc-les-Bains that raises awareness of marine environmental issues and climate change. Each Océanorue mural contains a QR code through which passers-by can access scientific content about the species depicted and climate change.
The Le Piano-Tiroir cultural centre regularly offers a cultural programme in Balaruc-les-Bains. It also regularly hosts artistic residencies and invites the public to discover stages of the artistic creation process. The Jardin Antique Méditerranéen provides information about Mediterranean plant species and their uses through seven gardens designed around ancient garden archetypes; guided tours take place there every week throughout the summer.
Activities
The Manuréva water sports centre is located in a pine grove on the shore of the Thau lagoon and offers water sports activities for all ages and ability levels. The centre offers introductory sessions and rentals of stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Thau Aventure rents conventional bicycles, electric bicycles, tandems and tricycles in Balaruc-les-Bains.
