Le Travers is a hill with a 360-degree panorama between vineyards and olive, fig and almond trees. Townscape and history
The ruins of the Moulin à Vent stand on the highest hill in the town, at an altitude of 113 metres.
The Circulade d’Alignan is arranged around a central tower and a ring of tall, narrow houses that opens through two gates. An outer ring with the Place du Plô was created from the 15th century onwards; six access passages are still recognisable in the present-day townscape.
The Église Saint-Martin was built between the 12th and 13th centuries and features medieval architectural elements. As a whole, it has been listed as a historic monument by decree of 29 July 1998. The Église Saint-Martin is not open to the public; access is only possible upon request.
Wine and tradition
The cooperative Les vignerons d’Alignan du vent was founded on 4 March 1936. At Les Vignerons d’Alignan-du-Vent/Neffiès, visitors can taste wine at the shop cellar in Alignan-du-Vent.
The Poulain d’Alignan-du-Vent was created in 1902; the present-day figure was built in 1951.
