Culture
The present-day Église de Sainte-Savine was built at the beginning of the 16th century and has been protected as a historic monument since 4 January 1921. The church houses the triptych Scènes de la vie de la Vierge, which was created in 1533. The Église de Sainte-Savine is also part of the Route du Vitrail. Since the 19th century, the history of Sainte-Savine has been shaped by the rise of the hosiery industry; at the same time, the town is characterised by urban and workers’ housing.
Events
A long-standing tradition in Sainte-Savine is La Ruée vers l’Autre, which takes place on the first weekend of September. Over two days, the event offers more than 40 street-art performances and also includes circus workshops and participatory activities.
Market and education
The Marché de Sainte-Savine takes place at Place Reichenbach every Tuesday and Friday morning. Fresh fruit and vegetables are sold there.
The Maison de la Science is open to everyone and organises exhibitions, workshops, science and robotics clubs, conferences and event days throughout the year. It communicates science in an accessible, entertaining and experimental way. The Médiathèque de Sainte-Savine offers free events for children and adults, which take place by reservation.
Nature
The site of the former swimming pool includes a green amphitheatre designed as a meeting place and a venue for cultural outreach. Atelier Vélo Solidaire is intended to have its own area there for bicycle repair workshops and the sale of second-hand bicycles.
