Ervy-Le-Châtel: holiday apartments and holiday homes

Ervy-le-Châtel is situated on the site of a very old, approximately two-hectare circular fortress called “le Pâté”.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens has ten stained-glass windows. The church also contains more than twenty statues and statuettes from the 16th century. It was listed as a historic monument on 22 July 1914. A guided tour at the Maison du Vitrail d'Armance explains the symbolism and history of its stained-glass windows.

The Porte Saint-Nicolas hosts exhibitions of paintings and sculptures, as well as other cultural activities. At the Maison du Vitrail, playful educational workshops on the effects of light and transparency are organised for children.

Nature and trails

Le Berle is a promenade lined with plane trees, created in 1791 along the former town moats. From the viewpoint at the Jardin Médiéval, the view extends across the plain. Three hiking trails along the Armance lead through forests and meadows.

The Circuit des ruelles is 3.6 km long, suitable for the general public and signposted in both directions. The route of the Base VTT du Pays d'Armance starts in front of the Église Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens and runs along numerous agricultural tracks and winding forest paths.

Local life

The weekly market takes place every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the historic town centre. Local products such as cheese, wines, beers, cider, honey and traditionally made bread are sold there.

La Ferme des Tourelles produces raw-milk farmhouse cheeses, including Chaource AOP, Ervy, Soumaintrain IGP, Mesnil, Marbré d'Armance, Bouchon d'Armance and fresh cheese.

Transport connections

A TER/SNCF bus route connects Ervy-le-Châtel with Troyes, Saint Florentin and Laroche Migennes.
