Culture and History
The Église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens was partly built in the 12th century and is Romanesque. It has been listed as a Monument historique since 1926. Its sculptures mainly date from the 15th century. The furnishings also include the Retable classé de Clérey, a polychrome wooden altarpiece from the 15th century depicting the Nativity of Jesus, the Presentation in the Temple and the Circumcision of Jesus Christ. As an object, this altarpiece has been classified as a Monument historique since 1894.
The Sentiers des Merlettes trail system leads along paths and lanes through the historic centre of Clérey; thematic information boards accompany the route. Clérey's communal washhouse is located between house numbers 8 and 10 on Rue du Lac, dates from 1857 and was restored in 2000. Villa Saint-Louis dates back to a former château from the 13th century.
