History and culture

German troops blew up the Pont de l'Aube on 27 August 1944 to secure their retreat.
In the first half of the 19th century, the Parisian hosiery merchant Jules Savouré established a hosiery factory in Arcis-sur-Aube. The factory built by Jules Savouré has a ground floor made of chalk and upper floors in half-timbering and wattle-and-daub construction, and is characteristic of the Champagne architectural style.
