Villebougis: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Saint-Nicolas houses a 14th-century equestrian statue of Saint George; it is believed to have come from the destroyed Prieuré de Saint-Georges in the hamlet of the same name.

Culture

The Église Saint-Nicolas also has a 19th-century bell-tower porch and a single-nave body with a wooden ceiling.

The former Prieuré de Saint-Georges was founded in the 13th century by Erard, Sire de Vallery. Only a small, privately owned and barely visible chapel remains of the former priory.

The RAF memorial stele stands on the road from Villebougis to Paroy.

Villebougis once had several brickworks; their products, which were delivered as far as Paris, were valued for their quality.

Nature

The western plateau of Villebougis consists predominantly of agricultural land, where wheat, barley, rapeseed, peas, sunflowers, maize and sugar beet are mainly grown.

The Forêt de Bruneau is predominantly characterised by oak, hornbeam, acacia and chestnut trees; part of it is planted with conifers and poplars.

Paths

Numerous local paths and farm tracks in Villebougis, including those in the forest, are accessible to everyone; private paths are excluded.

Events

A flea market with almost 200 exhibitors takes place in Villebougis in spring.
