Tresnay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Val Allier de Tresnay is of regional importance because of its floodplain habitats and its animal and plant life. The area features sandy banks, silted-up meanders, structurally diverse riparian forests and gravel islands that are regularly reshaped. The backwaters and their margins include wetland habitats such as boires, ponds, riparian woodland, reed beds, sedge marshes and floodable meadows.

Nature

Tresnay lies within the continental ZNIEFF type 2 area “Val d'Allier de Tresnay à Fourchambault”. This area is designated under the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive as part of Natura 2000; the areas named are Val d'Allier Bourguignon, Vallées de la Loire et de l'Allier entre Mornay-sur-Allier et Neuvy-sur-Loire, and Val d'Allier Bourbonnais en partie (partie nord).

Hiking

Tresnay is part of an intermunicipal network of 13 signposted hiking trails with a total length of almost 135 km. The network of trails passes through Azy-Le-Vif, Chantenay-Saint-Imbert, Langeron, Livry, Luthenay-Uxeloup, Saint-Pierre-Le-Moûtier, Toury-Sur-Jour and Tresnay.

Culture

The Église Saint-Rémy is a church in the Auvergnat Romanesque style. It has been protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 15 September 2010. Other local attractions in Tresnay include the Gallo-Roman bridge and Pierre Rapin.

The Fossés Martigny, also known as Fossés Matigny or Fossés Marigny and locally as Fossés Mainteny, consist of motte mounds surrounded by ditches and are remnants of the Petit Matigny seigneurial estate.

The La Varenne de Chavannes archaeological site contains a square structure measuring barely 2.75 m on each side, possibly corresponding to small chapels at rural or suburban sanctuaries. The finds include several figurines of the “Venus anadyomène” and the “Venus sous édicule”, as well as a ceramic balsamarium with a handle.

In the wider regional surroundings of Tresnay are the Château de Meauce, a castle, and the Musée Charles-Louis-Philippe, a museum. The Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Languedoc is a park located there. The Archives départementales de l'Allier are also located in the wider regional surroundings of Tresnay.
