History

A former Château de Thianges stood on the hill next to the current cemetery, where the old church was located. The site was surrounded by walls and a moat; traces of these can still be seen near a farm. Daniel Michel was buried in Thianges in 1693.

Culture

The origins of the Église de Thianges date back to the 12th century. In the last third of the 19th century, it was redesigned in the Neo-Romanesque style and replaced an older Romanesque building. Extensive repairs were carried out at the Église de Thianges in 1875; its stained-glass windows were also installed in 1875.

In the wider regional surroundings of Thianges are the Chapelle Saint-Sylvain, a church, and the Cathédrale Saint-Cyr et Sainte-Julitte de Nevers, also a church. The Archives départementales de la Nièvre, an archive, are also located there.
