Saint-Amand-En-Puisaye: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, more than 30 potters, ceramicists and craftspeople create artistic pieces. The Château de Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye was completely rebuilt during the Renaissance around 1530 by Antoine de Rochechouart. In the park stands a monumental stoneware arcade, 3 metres high and 4 metres wide, consisting of 28 moulded elements.
Culture
The Musée du Grès presents four centuries of history in several rooms of the Renaissance château through a collection of utilitarian stoneware. Since 17 September 2003, it has held the French designation “Musée de France” within the meaning of French heritage law.
The Maison de la Mémoire Potière preserves an almost completely intact 19th-century pottery complex with an almost unique, complete group of buildings typical of pottery production. Guided tours there convey the history of pottery in the Puisaye. A demonstration on the potter’s wheel can conclude the visit.

Nature
The Étang de la Forge is an artificial body of water covering approximately 15 hectares. It was originally intended to provide hydraulic power to a mill building erected near the main dam. Its wild appearance, typical of the ponds of the Puisaye, is deliberately preserved.
The Étang de la Forge is used primarily for fishing, including night fishing and no-kill fishing for carp and sturgeon. It is also suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding, and serves as an observation site for the local flora and fauna.
Getting Around
The Les Méandres de la Vrille hiking route begins on Avenue de la Gare near the tourist office. Along the way, it passes an old horizontal kiln located on the grounds of the CNIFOP.
