Montaron is home to the Romanesque parish church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. Its most important artistic feature is an ensemble of late-medieval murals dating from the late 14th century.

Cycling and Hiking

The Saint-Honoré-les-Bains–Ternant–La Nocle-Maulaix–Fours cycling loop passes through Montaron and the Étang de Chèvre on the return journey.

The Circuit des Boulats aux Grands Champs hiking trail is located within the municipality of Montaron. It is approximately 7.5 kilometres long and takes an average of around two hours to walk.
