Lavault-de-Frétoy combines tangible evidence of local history with several routes through the Morvan. Culture and history
The Église Saint-André is also closely associated with the more recent architectural history of the town. Its construction began in the 1880s and was not completed until the end of the 19th century. The church has a Latin-cross floor plan, a nave divided into four aisles with four bays, a semi-dome-shaped apse and a bell tower rising above the portal. It is built of cut granite and designed in the Neo-Romanesque style.
The Moulin à huile de Lavault is one of the ten heritage sites mentioned on the Boucle de Planchez en Morvan. The mill at Lavault on the Rainache dates from the late 18th century and operated as a grain mill until the early 1970s.
Near the Fou de Verdun lies the Oppidum de Verdun on a fortified spur of land. It contains Aeduan remains dating from around 600 BC, including a so-called Gallic gate.

The Boucle de Planchez en Morvan is a 32.5-kilometre, moderately difficult circular route marked Cyclo Jaune 3 Rouge and passes through Lavault-de-Frétoy. The Le plus grand des grands lacs circuit n° 6 also passes through the town and connects the two largest lakes in the Morvan. The Château-Chinon Circuit n° 14 also passes through Lavault-de-Frétoy.
