Guipy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Guipy is home to the Mille-Clubs, one of the rare surviving examples of this type of building in a small village. The building at 22–24 Rue Saint-Jacques dates from 1972 and bears the French “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” label, awarded in 2015.
Culture
Another cultural highlight is Le flotteur, a stone sculpture by Yannick Robert. It was created during a symposium of stone sculptors, made from Donzy stone, and pays tribute to the local history of timber rafting. A naïve statue from the 16th century also adorns the Chapelle des Moines.
History
The Château de Précy was entered on the register of historic monuments by decree dated 18 November 2010. The château was altered in the 16th century and consists of a residential building with a steep roof, flanked by two round towers and a stair tower.
Those choosing Guipy as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Hiking
Le tour des hameaux starts at Guipy Town Hall. The hike is 14.2 kilometres long, takes 4 hours and 30 minutes, and is of moderate difficulty. Its route passes through a rural setting with intimate landscapes and picturesque hamlets.
