Culture
The Musée de la mode presents more than three centuries of clothing history – from a wedding bag dating from 1690 to a dress created by Alexis Mabille in 2018; its collection comprises almost 5,000 items. The Musée des cadeaux présidentiels displays almost 350 objects that bear witness to the arts and traditions of the countries and peoples of five continents.
The Fontaine Niki de Saint-Phalle is a joint work by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint-Phalle. The Porte Notre-Dame was built from the stones of Château-Chinon Castle, which was destroyed in 1475.
Nature
The “la chapelle de Montbois” route includes two summit sections offering wide-ranging views of the landscape. Mont Preneley is a mountain in the vicinity of Château-Chinon(Ville), while Mont Genièvre is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings of Château-Chinon(Ville). The Saut de Gouloux waterfall and the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, a nature park, are also located in the wider regional surroundings of Château-Chinon(Ville).
Trails and history
The “Boucle n°2 de Château-Chinon” circular trail is a moderately difficult 17-kilometre route with 445 metres of elevation gain that starts and ends in Château-Chinon (Ville). The Fond d’Yonne climbing site is located along one section of the circular trail.
