The Château de Villandraut was built between 1305 and 1312 by Arnaud Garcie de Goth and his brother Bertrand de Goth, the later Pope Clement V.

Culture

The town’s cultural heritage includes the Musée Municipal de Villandraut, which has the status of a Musée de France. It is located in the Maison Braneyre, one of the town’s oldest houses, dating from 1753.

Guided tours of the Château de Villandraut last just over an hour. They include the upper floors and the stately living quarters, in particular the Pope’s Room. For a self-guided visit, the tour includes an interpretation trail and an audiovisual room.
