Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Romain in Targon dates from the late 12th or early 13th century. To visit its interior, visitors can obtain the key at the town hall reception by leaving their identity card as a deposit. The upper part of the church is fortified; the year 1673 is given for this section of the building.
The Commandery of Montarouch was a Templar commandery until 1312. The Montarouch complex was built around 1160 to 1180, according to archaeological analyses.
Wine
Château Sainte-Marie offers approximately one-hour tours with wine tasting at the estate. The vineyard plots extend across two hills that rank among the highest points in the Gironde. The château also has century-old plots planted with Sémillon and Merlot vines.
Château Vermont is a 19th-century château in the municipality of Targon. It is surrounded by 40 hectares of vineyards and offers tours of its wine cellars and vineyards.
