Tabanac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The parish church of Notre-Dame is a neo-Gothic church dating from the last quarter of the 19th century and was completed in 1874.

Culture and History

The Tour de Camail probably dates from the 17th century and was known for a long time as the Tour du Télégraphe. It is very likely connected with the Chappe telegraph.

The former Romanesque church of Sancta Maria de Tavanaco is also part of the area's older history; it appears in the 1398 register of Tabanac's parishes. A 6th-century marble sarcophagus discovered in the cemetery, decorated in the style of the so-called Aquitanian school, attests to the great age of Tabanac's parish. In addition, Tabanac has numerous Neolithic and Gallo-Roman remains.

In 1140, after returning from a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, the lords of Bouglon nailed horseshoes to the inside of the entrance to Notre-Dame de Tabanac.

Wine and Sightseeing

Château Renon offers wine tastings in Tabanac; tours of the château and tastings of its organic wines are available there upon request.

At Château Bessan, the tour offering includes a presentation of the estate with views of the vineyards and the surrounding area, a cellar tour, and a possible wine tasting.

Château La Clyde offers tours and tastings. La Cabane dans les Vignes is a tasting venue that presents products from Château Bessan and other producers.

Hiking and Landscape

Rando Tabanac offers classic hikes on Sunday mornings or all-day hikes at a minimum pace of 4 km/h. Every other Tuesday, a “cool hike” takes place, occasionally combined with sightseeing.

The Boucle Tabanac/Le Tourne is a hiking route between Tabanac and Le Tourne. Along the Garonne, traditional Carrelet fishing huts can be admired on this route.
