Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Martin in Semens incorporates building phases from the 12th, 16th and 19th centuries. It has Romanesque origins; its original layout included an apse and an adjoining straight bay. In the 19th century, it received a new façade flanked by two symmetrical towers. The church is classified as a historic monument and stands on a hill in the centre of the cemetery. On the Route des Vins de Cadillac, Semens has a stop for visiting the church and viewpoint.

Château de Gravelines is a manor house dating from the 17th and 19th centuries, situated on grounds with remains of ancient settlement. It has a cylindrical tower and openings crowned with pediments.

The hamlet of Chaigneau comprises winegrowers’ houses on a mid-slope that were embellished in the 19th century.
