The D801 cycle path connects Bordeaux with Lacanau, passes through Saumos and runs along a former railway line. The cycle path passes through the forest; the route is flat, quiet and green.

Next to the former Saumos railway station, there is a rest area with a picnic table and a water point.

Culture

The Saint-Amand de Saumos church was built in the 12th century and is located on the Way of St James. The church contains a very old stone baptismal font engraved with Templar crosses.

The Saumos library offers free registration, a catalogue with more than 38,000 documents, and advice from more than 50 librarians. The services also include year-round events, online reservations and renewals, a Biblio-Navette, digital resources and internet access.

The Fête de la Saint-Amand is a village festival tradition held annually in June in Saumos.

“Cache-cache en Médoc à Saumos” is a treasure hunt in which participants solve riddles in the municipality of Saumos and discover notable places. The route is 1 km long, easy and starts in Saumos. It can be played by bicycle or car.
