Saint-Côme: Holiday apartments and houses

Lac de la Prade is located within the territory of the municipalities of Bazas, Saint-Côme and Gajac. The artificial reservoir covers an area of 51 hectares and lies within a contiguous property spanning 80 hectares.

Nature

Lac de la Prade was designated an Espace Naturel Sensible (ENS) in 2019. The lake and its shores also belong to the Natura 2000 site “Réseau hydrographique du Beuve”.

The protected bird sanctuary at Lac de la Prade is home to grey herons and great crested grebes. The lake’s slopes also include priority dry grassland habitats with orchids. A marked footpath and educational facilities at Lac de la Prade make it easier to observe and discover the species recorded there. Fishing jetties and picnic tables are available at the lake.

Culture

The Église Saint-Côme houses the 18th-century painting “Saint Côme et saint Damien au pied de la croix”. The painting is listed as a protected movable cultural object; it was registered on 3 June 2005.

The Église de Saint-Côme was damaged or destroyed several times in the 10th century, during the Hundred Years’ War, in 1577 and during the revolutionary period, and was rebuilt or remodelled each time.

Hiking and events

After an approximately 1 km section along the Beuve, the “De Bazas au Lac de la Prade” route continues for several kilometres along a connecting path to Lac de la Prade. At the lake, the path turns right, crosses a wooden bridge and climbs up to an observation tower.

From April to October, free events are offered at Lac de la Prade by specialists and committed local experts.
