Culture and history

The Église Saint-Christophe is a Romanesque church. Its sculpted portal dates from the 12th century; the church was extended in the 16th century and restored in the second half of the 19th century. By decree of 1 December 1908, the sculpted portal was classified as a historic monument, and by decree of 30 June 2000, the church was listed.

The Moulin de Farguet, also known as Moulin de Parsac, in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes was mentioned as a landmark when the boundaries of the Juridiction de Saint-Émilion were established in 1289. Built in 1798, the Moulin de Sarpe is the last mill in the Juridiction de Saint-Émilion to have preserved its roof and sails.

Landscape

The Haut-Sarpe viewpoint offers a wide panorama over the northern side of the Juridiction de Saint-Émilion.

Wine

Upon reservation, Château Champion offers a one-hour guided tour of the organically farmed family estate, its vineyards and wineries, followed by a tasting of three wines, including at least two Saint-Émilion Grands Crus.

The Sentier des Vignes is located at Château Champion. This free, self-guided vineyard trail features information via QR codes and explanatory panels about the plant and animal species found in the vineyard. It may be closed to the public when the vines are being treated.

During a visit to Château Laplagnotte Bellevue, biodynamic wines and measures to promote biodiversity are presented, including green manure and beehives. Château Laplagnotte Bellevue also offers a tour and wine tasting.

Hiking

The “A la croisée des appellations” hiking loop starts in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes and is 11.1 km long. It takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes, is rated as moderately difficult, and passes through the wine-growing areas of various appellations beyond Saint-Émilion.
