Culture and History

The Église de Saint-Aubin de Blaye has preserved its Romanesque character, with an old bell tower, a porch and three wood-panelled naves. The church of Saint-Aubin in Saint-Aubin-de-Blaye also contains a bell made in 1606. It has been listed as a protected object since 20 May 1988. The church can be visited free of charge and exclusively by prior appointment.

The Grand Moulin is also part of the historic townscape. It was probably built in the 18th century and modernised in 1888 with a Sagebien waterwheel. The Grand Moulin, a former grain mill and later mill, was built on a diversion of the Livenne.

Public art also shapes individual aspects of the town. The Sentiers des Arts have been a cultural and artistic meeting place in autumn for several years and also include works in Saint-Aubin. At the Saint-Aubin-de-Blaye stop of the Sentier des Arts, Mélanie Béguier’s work can be found behind the bakery. In the Saint-Aubin section of the Sentier Street Art, Jean Rooble’s work can be discovered near the medical centre; parking is available at the city stadium car park.
