Sadirac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Maison de la Poterie is a ceramics museum established around the remains of a 19th-century potter’s kiln.

Culture

The Maison de la Poterie displays more than 200 archaeological vases and ceramic objects dating from the 14th to the 19th century. There are also temporary exhibitions of contemporary ceramics. The Association Agap offers pottery courses and workshops for children and adults there throughout the year.

Events

The Céramique en Fête festival takes place every year on a weekend in June beneath the Halle André Lapaillerie and includes a pottery market with participants from France and abroad. The festival also features workshops, competitions, concerts and night-time firings, where visitors can discover contemporary ceramics and various ceramic-art techniques.

History

In the mid-18th century, Sadirac had 150 active potters who used around 50 monumental kilns. The Gothic roof structure of the Church of Saint-Martin de Sadirac is listed in the inventory of historic monuments.

Nature

The Pimpine stream, which flows through Sadirac, is described as a protected Natura 2000 biodiversity reservoir and an area of ecological interest. The Roger Lapébie cycle path crosses Sadirac along a former railway line on a route of approximately 25 km between Bordeaux and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.

Activities

The Tèrra-Aventura trail “Cruche un jour, cruche toujours!” in Sadirac is 2.5 km long and takes 1 to 2 hours. The Maison du Patrimoine Naturel du Créonnais is located in Sadirac’s former railway station on the edge of the Roger Lapébie cycle path and offers cultural, educational and scientific activities throughout the year, open to everyone.

The Maison du Patrimoine Naturel du Créonnais’s “Découverte de l’environnement” programme invites visitors to explore a different topic each time through walks, workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions. Château Le Grand Verdus can be explored on foot via two trails dedicated to biodiversity, “Petites” and “Grandes Jambes”.

Tours of Château Le Grand Verdus take place by appointment. Château Le Grand Verdus offers a one-hour discovery tasting of three wines.
