Nature
The Dune du Pilat moves 1 to 5 m eastwards each year under the influence of the prevailing winds and tides. It can be reached on foot, by bicycle, by bus and even by boat.
Coast and Trails
The small beaches of Pyla-sur-Mer can be reached at low tide between Daniel Meller and La Corniche. The GR8 passes through Pyla-sur-Mer and offers a pleasant walk into the heart of the La Teste forest.
At La Salie Nord beach, there is a glisse spot where associations for surfing, kitesurfing and land sailing operate.
Culture and History
Villa Téthys and its entire garden were listed as historic monuments by decree of 16 January 2001. The villa is one of five villas that Roger-Henri Expert had built between 1924 and 1927. It is arranged around a large central rotunda; its eastern garden combines architecture, vegetation and water features.
In summer, Villa Téthys is opened for visits by reservation through the La Teste-de-Buch tourist office. At the Eden site, there is a complex of bunkers shaded by pine trees, the remains of a German battery from the Second World War. The seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer was established in 1915 on the initiative of Daniel Meller.
