Marcheprime: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The church of Marcheprime was built in 1862 by Émile Pereire. The initials E. P. are still engraved beneath its vault. In 1909, Croix d’Hins was home to the first airfield in the Gironde department; it was also the site of aviator Léon Delagrange’s first flight in Gironde.

History

The Lafayette TSF station was built at Croix d’Hins; it was the most powerful radiotelegraph station in the world. Four buildings dating from its construction, as well as the ruins of the former workshop and the former dining hall, are still preserved on the site. On 10 January 2010, a memorial stele was erected on the Croix d’Hins site.
