Nature
The marked Parcours des Graves route is 56 kilometres long and passes through the five municipalities of Cestas, Canéjan, Léognan, Pessac and Gradignan. The Parcours des Graves is open to walkers and mountain bikers.
The Parc de Pontaulic is located in the heart of Léognan town centre and is open to the public. Free, self-guided visits are possible there. Château Olivier is located in the heart of an extensive, wooded estate.
History
The present-day neoclassical building of Château La Louvière was constructed between 1791 and 1799 by the architect François Lhote. The medieval Château Olivier is listed in the inventory of Monuments historiques. Château Olivier is a former manor house whose medieval origins remain visible in the château’s feudal architecture.
The Église Saint-Martin in Léognan features medieval remains. Château Carbonnieux was founded in the 13th century by Benedictine monks from the Sainte-Croix Abbey in Bordeaux.
Wine
Château Léognan is a wine estate in the renowned Pessac-Léognan wine-growing region. Château Olivier offers the family-friendly visit “Voyage aromatique au cœur du vin”, which ends with a workshop where the aromas of white and red wines are playfully discovered through the sense of smell.
As part of the tour of Château Carbonnieux, visitors can discover collections of historic cars and winemaking tools. Visitors are welcomed in the medieval courtyard of Château Carbonnieux.
