Culture

From the 16th century until the end of the Ancien Régime, Château de Latresne was the seat of the Captalat of Latresne, which belonged to the Lecomte family during this period. Its three wings form a U-shaped courtyard and date from the 17th century. The buildings were structurally modified in 1805, 1833 and 1849.

Another historic estate is the Demeure de Valrose: the 18th-century country house was built for respected citizens from Bordeaux and is located on the banks of the Garonne.

Nature

The municipality of Latresne counts the Étang des Sources and its “mangrove” among its remarkable natural sites. The Bois de la Pimpine nature area lies on a slope above former underground quarries and overlooks a large pond. Getting around

The 47-kilometre-long Roger Lapébie trail connects Bordeaux with Sauveterre-de-Guyenne. From Bordeaux, it can be reached via the Greenway running along the Garonne to Latresne; in Latresne, it runs as a voie verte. The Bois de la Pimpine is accessible via this trail.

On the trail, the Balades à Roulettes® format offers a route suitable for pushchairs or small bicycles and adapted for people with reduced mobility using a wheelchair.
