Lac de Lacanau covers approximately 20 km². The lake is suitable for observing nature as well as for leisure activities and water sports. There are designated zones for kitesurfing, and four slipways are available for launching boats.

Nature and Trails
The Sentier de La Berle is a 2.5 km-long trail classified as a protected area, where visitors can learn about the history of the coastal marshes. Its starting point is on Rue du Général-de-Gaulle in Lacanau Ville.
On the eastern shore of Lac de Lacanau, the Réserve Biologique Dirigée de Vire vieille, Vignotte et Batejin extends across 215 hectares.
Water Sports
The Lacanau Surf Club was founded in 1968. Its Club-Loisirs programme includes surfing, bodyboarding and stand-up paddle activities for all age groups, from the age of five through adulthood. The club also offers surfing lessons tailored to age and ability level in small groups of six to eight participants. Surfing lessons can be booked there, and surfboards and wetsuits can be rented.
La Maison de la Glisse is a 450 m² villa overlooking the ocean from its location on the dune.
Culture and Local Life
The Église Notre-Dame des Flots was built in 1964 and bears the “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” label. The Église Saint-Vincent has been restored and highlighted at the entrance to Lacanau Ville.
L’Escoure is a publicly accessible venue for events, exhibitions and films at the entrance to Lacanau Océan.
The museum is housed in an 18th-century residence and tells the story of Lacanau. At the entrance to the town, it presents collections on the local heritage in five themed rooms.
