La Réole: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Benedictine priory of La Réole was founded in 977 on the limestone plateau above the Garonne. It was completely destroyed during the Wars of Religion in 1577 and rebuilt in the 18th century.
Culture
The former prison of La Réole was decommissioned in 1934 and now houses art exhibitions.
The Château des Quat’Sos was completely rebuilt in 1254 after having been attacked from the roofs of the neighbouring Church of Saint-Pierre. Its layout forms an irregular quadrilateral; the defensive walls are flanked by four almost identical towers.
The town hall of La Réole was built at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century and is considered one of the oldest town halls in France.
