Espiet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Notre-Dame d’Espiet is a Romanesque building that was largely rebuilt after the Wars of Religion in the 16th century. The building has a single-nave layout, a choir with a straight eastern end, and a bell gable with two openings to the west. Its portal is decorated with four sculpted capitals depicting figures and birds. The church was soon visited by pilgrims travelling the Way of St James to Santiago de Compostela.

Culture and History
Moulin Neuf was completely remodelled at the end of the 15th century and belonged to La Sauve-Majeure Abbey for centuries. Crosses serving as roof finials are located on the northern and southern façades, and there are also balconies with machicolations. Projecting buttresses protect the north gate. The former vertical waterwheel, which has since disappeared, had a diameter of around five metres and powered two pairs of millstones, which remained in operation until 1950.
Water and Landscape
Lac d’Espiet was created in former quarries that are now filled with turquoise water. The lake is largely surrounded by conifers. The privately managed site is geared towards tourism and leisure activities, particularly water sports and swimming; it is open to the public only for a few months each year.
The bathing area at Terres Blanches in Espiet was scheduled to be open for the 2026 swimming season from 7 June to 31 August. The bathing area was not classified in 2026.
Cycling
The Circuit de la Gare is an 8-kilometre, easy cycling route. It starts at Espiet railway station, Gare d’Espiet, and follows the cycle path for around 500 metres towards Sauveterre. At Larmevaille, the route offers a viewpoint over the wine-growing landscape, with views of Bonnet and Reynier castles.
The Circuit des Coteaux passes the church of Espiet and the Fontaine Saint Aignan in the Le Bourg district.
Wine
At the Union de producteurs Baron d'Espiet, visitors can learn about more than 80 years of winemaking technology; the site has more than 200 wine tanks and 300 oak barrels.
The Union de producteurs Baron d'Espiet is one of the oldest cooperatives in the Gironde. It was founded in 1932 by four winegrowers, initially processed only white wines from Entre-deux-Mers, and began producing red wine in 1960.
