Donnezac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The entire landscape of the municipality of Donnezac belongs fully to the landscape unit Double et le Landais. In front of the town hall and schools stands the Donnezac war memorial for the First World War. Since 21 October 2014, it has been listed in its entirety as a historical monument. The memorial was created in 1920 by the sculptor Jules Déchin and consists of a bronze statue of a dying soldier.

Culture and History

From 1611 onwards, the Chapelle de Gablezac was a local pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint Roch. Until the 1950s, pilgrims gathered there on 24 August, Saint Roch’s Day. The chapel was later dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was restored and houses a carved wooden altar from the 18th century.

Several prehistoric artefacts were discovered at the site of Le Nid-de-la-Tourte in Donnezac. The remains of a Roman camp have also been preserved in Donnezac. Northeast of the town centre are the remains of a medieval motte, which are regarded as evidence of a feudal organisation.

At the Ferme des Moquets, visitors can enjoy a farm visit as well as donkey rides and carriage rides.
