Culture and History
The Château du Hamel was first built in 1313–1314; the present building was reconstructed in 1697. Its façades and roofs have been listed as historic monuments since 1963. The Château du Hamel can be visited by appointment from Easter to All Saints’ Day.
The Église Saint-Louis is located in the centre of Castets-en-Dorthe, near the lateral canal to the Garonne. It was built in an eclectic style reflecting the taste of the 19th century. The walls of its nave are decorated with Stations of the Cross paintings and stained-glass windows. The Église Saint-Louis can be visited independently.
The Pont Eiffel in Castets-en-Dorthe was built in 1905. The bridge deck offers a viewpoint over the confluence of the Garonne and the canal. The Pont Eiffel can be visited free of charge and is open all year round.
