The Avensan forest massif consists predominantly of pine trees and extends over approximately 650 hectares from Saint-Raphaël in the south to the hamlet of Garenne.

Culture and History
A pilgrimage takes place every year at the Chapelle de Saint Raphaël. Pey Berland (1375–1458) was born here; he later became Archbishop of Bordeaux. The Église Saint Pierre is a Romanesque church and has been listed as a historic monument since 1915. It contains several alabaster reliefs that Pey Berland donated to his home parish; they depict his patron saints and the scene of his episcopal ordination in Rome.
La croix de Villeranque is listed as a historic monument and is located on the edge of the route of the ancient Levade, on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The history of Château Meyre dates back to the 17th century.
Nature and Lakes
Les Étangs d’Avensan comprise four signposted circular trails; connecting paths provide access from the shores of each body of water to the other lakes. At Lac de Bronturon, there is an area reserved for anglers and a birdwatching observatory. In addition, a 1.3 km hike leads through an area rich in biodiversity.
Lac Jaugas has a 2 km circular trail, a fitness trail and a picnic area. Lac Casalié is equipped for water sports such as water skiing and wakeboarding. At Lac de Laudéré, there is a 2.6 km hiking trail with a shaded section through the forest.
Experiences
Alice au pays des paons offers families oenocultural experiences combining storytelling, workshops and tastings. Cache-cache en Médoc in Avensan is a family scavenger hunt that can be played on foot, by bicycle or by car throughout the municipality.
Wine and Agriculture
Château Citran offers guided tours followed by commented wine tastings. Ferme de Vertessec welcomes visitors for tours of the poultry farm, exclusively by appointment and depending on the season.
