Culture and Tradition
The Konavle County Museum is located in the center of Čilipi in a former village treasury dating from 1909. Its ethnographic collection presents material and intangible traces of traditional life in Konavle and also includes embroideries from traditional needlework.
The collection comprises around 700 objects. On display are traditional costumes, embroideries and textile handicrafts, jewelry, weapons, musical instruments, paintings, photographs and household items. The ground floor also features temporary exhibitions on the material and intangible heritage of Konavle, as well as lectures, educational programs, publications and multimedia content.
The parish church of Saint Nicholas dates from the 19th century, while its bell tower dates from 1898. Folklore events have been held in the square in front of the church every Sunday from Palm Sunday until the end of October since 1967. After Sunday Mass at 11:15 a.m., KUD Čilipi presents the customs of Konavle there through song and dance.
