Culture
Valun’s history is reflected in the remains of the village of Bućev, the foundations of Saint Mark’s Church, which date back to at least the 11th century, and the early Glagolitic document known as the Valun Tablet, which is considered an important element of Croatian cultural heritage.
The parish church in Valun was built in 1851 and contains the Valun Tablet. An old olive press has been preserved next to it. The adjacent restaurant terrace serves as a Glagolitic lapidarium with copies of historic inscriptions from Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia.
