A short mountain bike loop

The Waldspielplatz mountain bike practice trail is a circular route approximately 600 metres long, ridden counterclockwise. At the start of the descent, there are two hairpin bends or steep turns. The route’s length, direction of travel and section of bends give it a clear practice focus. A pump track has complemented the trail in the Gerlos Adventure Land since summer 2021; it is located right next to the Waldspielplatz. As the facility may be maintained seasonally, it is a good idea to check the latest information before visiting. Unlike the Lebensfreude circular trail, this route focuses on cycling rather than pausing at art installations.

On foot into the Wimmertal

The Wimmertal branches off near Gerlos-Gmünd and is suitable for leisurely walkers. From there, hiking trail no. 6 passes the Eggehtenalm and continues to the Wimmertalalm snack station. The walk is listed as taking around 45 minutes. This gives you a concrete reference for the time needed to reach your destination; it is an approximate estimate. Unlike the mountain bike practice trail, this is not a loop with a designated direction of travel, but a hiking trail with a named destination. A seasonal winter hike

The winter hiking trail into the Schwarzachtal starts at the Gasthof Kühle Rast in Gerlos-Gmünd. It passes through a narrow belt of forest and leads to the Schwarzachalm snack station. Its designated winter character makes it a seasonal option, distinct from the hike to the Wimmertalalm. When planning, you can therefore choose whether you prefer the trail to the Wimmertalalm or this winter route towards the Schwarzachalm.
