Discover Fieberbrunn: Mountain Lakes, Flower Trails and Family Experiences
Fieberbrunn combines impressive mountain landscapes with special natural attractions, family-friendly excursion destinations and a remarkable cultural history. Between Wildseelodersee, Lauchsee and flower trails, you will find various ways to spend your holiday days. When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home, it is therefore worth deciding on your preferred focus: Should the trip primarily lead to mountain lakes and viewpoints, offer experiences for the whole family, or also include the history of the town?
Mountain Lakes, Waterfalls and Alpine Flowers
One of the impressive natural attractions is Wildseelodersee. Trail no. 711 leads from the Lärchfilzkogel mountain station to the lake; the walking time is approximately one hour. Those choosing Wildseeloder as their destination also follow trail no. 711 from the same mountain station via Wildseelodersee. This route takes approximately two hours. Whether you plan a shorter route to the lake or a longer tour to the summit can therefore be easily adapted to your own daily schedule.
The route to Wildseeloder offers a panorama of the Kitzbühel Alps and extends to views of the snow-covered Tauern mountains in the distance. The flower trail around the Hochhörndlspitze offers a different landscape experience. Along this trail, you pass numerous Alpine flowers that are protected by nature conservation laws. It leads via Reckmoos and past the Lärchfilzhochalm to the Streuböden middle station or to Timoks Wilde Welt.
The other hiking trails in Fieberbrunn also cater to various preferences: The range extends from challenging summit tours to leisurely panoramic or downhill hikes. Along the way, the trails lead to viewpoints, alpine pastures, mountain streams and mountain lakes. A stay at Wildseelodersee also includes the Wildseeloderhaus, which is located directly on the shore and serves regional specialities. A smaller, unusual natural attraction is the Schreiende Brunnen in the Hörndlingergraben: The small veil waterfall is fed by the Wildalpsee and has drinking-water quality.
Family Experiences Around Water and Exercise
For shared discoveries, the Timoks Entdecker Checker trail offers huge animal replicas and interactive play stations. Timoks Wilde Welt is an excursion destination for the whole family. Admission is free; only the Alpine Coaster ride requires payment. This allows you to add a playful experience station to a day in the mountain landscape.
Lauchsee is a small moor lake surrounded by gentle mountains. From there, views open up towards the Wilder Kaiser, the Loferer Mountains and the Kitzbühel Alps. The extensive grounds are considered a swimming and family area. The southern shore of Lauchsee is reserved specifically for fishing. Those looking for more comprehensive bathing facilities instead of a day at the lake will find an indoor sports pool, an outdoor swimming channel, a 65-metre-long tunnel slide, a children’s pool, a sauna village and a restaurant at AUBAD.
Fieberbrunn can also be experienced actively in winter. The Dandler cross-country ski trail is 15 km long, easy to moderately difficult, and groomed for both classic skiing and skating. It is not the facilities at the accommodation but rather the desired combination of these experiences that determines the right starting point for your search.
History and Regional Particularities
The parish church of St Primus and Felizian was consecrated on 17 June 1446. Inside are ceiling frescoes by Innsbruck artist Wolfram Köberl, created in 1982/83. The town’s name also tells a story: Fieberbrunn appears regularly in documents from the 15th century, and more rarely in the shortened form Prun. The name is derived from the healing spring at Pramau. Those wishing to combine nature experiences with a cultural insight can include this church and the history of the name in their travel plans.
