The Kitzbühel Museum takes visitors through several eras: the historical tour ranges from late Bronze Age copper mining, through the development of the town and the heyday of modern mining and Baroque culture, to sporting history featuring Kitzbühel’s skiing wonder team of the 1950s. Covering 250 m², the museum also presents selected major works, autographs, photographs and designs by Alfons Walde, who worked as a painter, architect, graphic artist and publisher. The entire museum is accessible barrier-free by lift.

Another cultural attraction is the Museum St. Johann in Tirol. It is located in two underground buildings connected to each other, which served as a correctional institution for sinful priests in the 18th century. The exhibition focus on the Kaiser Mountains and smartphone audio guides in three languages provide additional thematic orientation for visitors.

Mountain and Family Experiences

For families, Timoks Wilde Welt at the Streuböden middle station in Fieberbrunn is a distinctive excursion idea. The family park offers numerous attractions for all age groups. You can reach it with the F1 Streuböden cable car; alternatively, hiking trail no. 8 leads from the valley station to the middle station. Those planning nature observations will find 350 animals at Aurach Wildlife Park, including red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, lynxes and yaks. A game feeding takes place there daily at 2:30 p.m.

The Triassic Park is located on the Steinplatte in Waidring at an altitude of around 1,600 metres above sea level. The themed world explores dinosaurs, the primeval sea and times long past. The family-friendly Triassic Trail with numerous life-size dinosaur models runs around the mountain station. The Pillersee mountain railway also takes visitors to the summit with the Jakobskreuz. The Schwendt village loop leads through the historic village centre and makes detours to the Hackerkreuz and the viewing cross dating from 1652. The route to the Sintersbach Waterfall begins at the Schradlern car park. At the Kitzbüheler Horn, the Alpine Flower Garden features 400 varieties of alpine flowers. The Streif Summer Experience can be reached with the Hahnenkamm cable car; the circular hike begins at the Streif starting house.

The area also offers a range of options for winter sports and cycling tours. The Kitzbühel ski area connects Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach and Jochberg with 233 kilometres of slopes and 58 lift facilities. The ski area on the Kitzbüheler Horn comprises 11 slopes. The KAT-BIKE-LIGHT tour leads through the valleys of the Kitzbühel Alps, offers views of the Hohe Salve, Brixental, St. Johann in Tirol and Pillerseetal regions, and is specified as having a total length of 226 km.
