An accessible beach holiday succeeds when the complete travel chain works: arrival, parking, entrance, bathroom, bedroom, route to the beach, access to the water and the return after an excursion. A ramp at the beach says nothing about the accommodation, so check each part separately.

Describe requirements before searching
Write down the door width, bed and seat height, shower shape, support, flooring and turning space that are needed. A wheelchair, walking frame, pushchair or assistance dog can change the choice of property. Ask providers to answer precise questions with current measurements, photos or a floor plan.
Check the property and beach path together
Review parking, kerbs, road surface, door sills, lift, bathroom, bedroom, shopping and medical care. A level entrance is of little use if the path to the beach crosses coarse sand or a steep slope. A longer but reliable route can be more useful than the shortest route to the water.
Beach access and local facilities
Some communities provide boardwalks, ramps, beach wheelchairs or accessible toilets only on certain sections or during part of the season. Check reservation, assistance, opening times and the surface from the parking area to the water.
