Guaraciaba offers a range of reasons to explore: Cascata Salto Grande has a drop of 125 metres, a museum is dedicated to the region’s history, and FACIG brings together agriculture, commerce and industry through several exhibitions. There are also opportunities to experience nature along the Rio Guatapará and learn about Gaucho culture. As you plan your trip, you can decide whether to focus on water and forests, culture or both.

Experience Water and Forests

The BioCachu Trail follows the clear waters of the Rio Guatapará through forest containing native trees in permanently protected areas. Those with a particular interest in rivers and forests will find a different kind of nature experience here than on a trip to a waterfall. Clear water and native trees define the character of the BioCachu Trail.

The excursion along the Rota das Cachoeiras begins at Sítio Anhaia. From there, the route covers 7.5 kilometres on paved road to the starting point of the hike. Cascata Salto Grande, with its 125-metre drop, is on the Rota das Cachoeiras.

The BIOCACHU – Trilha com Café experience offers the chance to jump and swim in natural pools at the foot of the waterfalls do Encanto and do Pau Cravado.

Regional History and Gaucho Culture

The Museu Histórico Edvino Carlos Hölscher has more than 7,000 objects. They document the region’s history from its earliest times. The Igreja Matriz is another cultural landmark.

Bioconstrucao Guaraciaba offers a different perspective. This sustainable experience lets you learn about the history, materials and techniques of a living house. Visits are by prior appointment only. Bear this requirement in mind when planning; you cannot assume that a visit will be possible without arranging an appointment in advance. For your cultural itinerary, you can compare different ways to explore: the museum documents regional history through more than 7,000 objects, while Bioconstrucao introduces the history, materials and techniques of a living house. The Igreja Matriz is considered a landmark; the Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Caravaggio, located on the BR-163, adds another place to this selection.

FACIG – Feira Agropecuária, Comercial e Industrial de Guaraciaba takes place every two years in May. It includes several exhibitions, with most activities held at CTG Fronteira do Oeste. A project at the CTG also aimed to preserve and promote Gaucho culture: peões, prendas and their families were to be trained for artistic and cultural performances.

More to Discover

Groups visiting the Bariviera family farm can order afternoon coffee. The Roteiro Acolhida na Fronteira brought visitor groups to the municipality of Guaraciaba. These offerings complement the nature and culture themes with a glimpse of local visitor experiences.
